We leave Bucharest and make our way to Bran Castle
Surrounded by an aura of mystery and legend and perched high atop a 200-foot-high rock, Bran Castle owes its fame to its imposing towers and turrets and is commonly known as “Dracula’s castle”. Built on the site of a Teutonic Knights stronghold dating from 1212, the castle was first documented in an act issued by Louis I of Hungary on November 19, 1377, giving the Saxons of Kronstadt (Brasov) the privilege to build the Citadel. The fortress is situated on the border between Transylvania and Wallachia.
Brașov is a city in the Transylvania region of Romania, ringed by the Carpathian Mountains. It’s known for it’s medieval Saxon walls and bastions, the towering Gothic-style Black Church and lively cafes. Piaţa Sfatului (Council Square) in the cobbled old town is surrounded by colorful baroque buildings and is home to the Casa Sfatului, a former town hall turned local history museum. We then head back to the town of Sinaia where we’ll be based for the next 2 days.
