OAXACA: Known for its indigenous cultures and colonial buildings often made of green volcanic stone. Beyond the city, pre-Columbian Monte Albán, the Zapotec capital dating to around 500 B.C. An added extra: day trip to see Hierve el Agua waterfalls!

SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS: Explore cobbled streets and markets, soaking up the unique ambiance and the wonderfully clear highland light.
