About the event

This hike will be led by Glenn who has an intimate knowledge of this walk and it's surrounding areas.

Starting at Princes Risborough station, this walk through the Chilterns will take us over Whiteleaf Hill with its impressive chalk artwork. Whiteleaf Hill is also known for the 100m high chalk hill figure: The Whiteleaf Cross (on its northern slope) but is also home to other interesting archaeological features including a Neolithic barrow and WW1 practice trenches. From there we go to the Grangelands Nature Reserve.

We then stroll through the Prime Minister’s garden at Chequers before we make a short climb up Coombe Hill where we’ll see the Coombe Hill monument erected in memory of soldiers that died during the second Boer war.

As we walk from Coombe Hill to the quaint village of Dunsmore we’ll be able to see the planned route of the controversial HS2 train linking London to Birmingham and the north.

We’ll then drop down into the picturesque village of Little Hampden before picking up our earlier path into Princes Risborough
