About the event

This will be our 3rd visit to this area, feedback from other trips have been very good and is a must-see location for those of you that want to combine countryside walks, amazing scenery, good food and wine and immerse yourself in French culture & history.

HIGHLIGHTS:

• Walk through forests, vineyards, countryside villages and around lakes

• Visit some of France's most famous Chateaux

• Evening sound & light show

• Indulge in a week-end of French food and wine

THURSDAY AUGUST 23rd LEAVE LONDON

Leave London St Pancras by Eurostar. Arrive in Paris. Take the TGV from Paris to Tours. Or fly to Tours Loire Valley Airport direct from Stansted. We then go for an evening walk & dinner in Tours

FRIDAY AUGUST 24th

Walk around the Cher valley starting at the world famous Chateau of Chenonceaux, which we will visit.

The walk is about 8-9 miles and can be modified depending on the conditions. The walk takes us through forests and small villages, we will then cross the old demarcation line (when France was split into 2 zones during WWII) and then come to a point which gives us a unique view of the Chateau Chenonceaux

SATURDAY AUGUST 25th

Walk in the forests of Chambord (still a hunting ground for French presidents). Walk approx 7-8 miles and visit Chateau Chambord.

WE WILL THEN MOVE ON TO BLOIS, ONCE A ROYAL RESIDENCE, WHERE WE WILL ENJOY A SOUND & LIGHT SHOW @ 10:30 pm

SUNDAY AUGUST 26th

We start our leisurely day by visiting the Unesco world heritage gardens of Villandry, then move on to visit the unique Chateau d’Azay le Rideau.

We will end our week-end in the Loire valley by a wine tasting in the Vouvray troglodyte cellar one of the most famous wines of the Loire Valley.

MONDAY AUGUST 27th (BANK HOLIDAY IN THE UK)

Return to London

TRAVEL

TRAIN

From London take the Eurostar into Paris Gard du Nord. From there go to Gare Montparnasse and take the TGV to Tours St Pierre des Corps station (1 hour)

PLANE

Ryanair flies from Stansted to Tours Loire Valley Airport. Flight gets into Tours at 16:35 & the outbound leaves Monday morning at 11:00 am.
